How to manage seasonal skin changes and shake up your regime

When one season ends and another begins, it's not just your wardrobe that needs to respond to the temperature change! For many of us, we may start to feel and see signs of a warm or cool change on our skin.

If you've noticed that your skin hasn’t responded well to seasonal change, here are our tips for shaking up your routine!

Winter skin

As the weather gets cooler, humidity decreases, and the skin can be susceptible to dehydration, receiving less moisture needed to hydrate and strengthen the skin.

In addition to the lack of humidity, going from the cool outdoors to the heat of an open fire, central heating or hot baths and showers can lead to the skin becoming tight, dry and harder to hydrate.

How to help winter skin

For the skin to perform at its best during the cooler months, external hydration and protection is critical.

Bf Restore Face & Body Serum is an extract of finger lime and an excellent source of phyto-actives like tryptophan, rutin and ferulic acid. When applied topically, these key active ingredients work together to aid in strengthening barrier function, hydration and assisting to reduce any irritation to the skin.

Our hero product is available in a range of convenient sizes to combat winter dry and dehydrated skin at home, on the move or when travelling. Use all over the face and body to hydrate and nourish those hard-to-reach areas such as the hands, feet and even the hair.

Exfoliation is key

Keep dull winter skin clear and bright by exfoliating and indulging your skin with  Bc Refresh Cleanserand Bx Reveal Exfoliant. This triple-acting formula can help remove dulling skin cells, encourage cellular regeneration, clear pores to brighten the complexion and strengthen the barrier system.

Aim to exfoliate once a week to allow for optimal product penetration and absorption of your serums and oils whilst maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

Introduce an oil

Br Organic Rosehip Oil is a natural source of essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E that assist in strengthening the skin and providing much needed nourishment during the winter months.

If you're finding the skin harder to hydrate, applying a cold-pressed and unrefined oil after your evening serum will help protect the skin barrier and lock moisture into the skin layers.

Summer skin

From one extreme to the other, the summer sees an increase in humidity in the air which can naturally provide the skin with extra hydration giving a brighter glow and a dewier complexion.

But the summer is also more likely to lead to long days at the beach, more exposure to harmful UV rays and a tendency to be out of routine which can all take its toll on the skin.

For those with acne-prone or oily skin, you might notice an increase in sebum production which can lead to blocked pores, breakouts and a shiny complexion.

If you spend time in the great outdoors, you might also notice an increase in sunspots or pigmentation as the long summer days contribute to increased free radical damage that can harm skin cells.

Bqk Radiance Serum

Bqk Radiance Serum has been specifically designed to assist in improving the clarity of the skin, targeting uneven skin tone and helping to prevent accelerated pigmentation.

Available as a morning and evening combo, the transformative phyto-actives naturally occurring in Kakadu Plum (am) and Quandong (pm) provide the nutrients required for an advanced level of skincare perfectly suited to the summer months.

Bf Restore Face and Body Serum

Just as Bf Restore Face & Body Serum can hydrate dehydrated skin in the winter, it can also work hard to repair damage caused by overexposure to the sun. While sunburn is a big no-no whatever the weather, applying the active ingredients to sun-affected skin may help with calming, soothing and restoring the skin.

Vitamin C for skin discoloration

Vitamin C is known to help with skin brightening and assists in reducing the effects of accelerated skin pigmentation. Naturally occurring in Bk Vitamin C Face & Eye Serum, our vitamin C is sourced straight from Kakadu Plum to help provide noticeable and lasting results. Apply liberally every day, especially after a day in the sun.

Spring and autumn skin

While spring and autumn provide less extreme environmental conditions, these are the seasons to prepare the skin for excessive temperature exposure often experienced during the summer and winter months.

Antioxidant protection

Use this time to build antioxidant protection to strengthen the skin. Not only will this increase hydration, but a stronger skin barrier will help prevent against free radical damage caused by UV exposure and defend against cooler temperatures that can lead to sensitised skin.

Those ‘in between’ seasons are the perfect time to add plant vitamin C to your routine. Incorporate Bk Vitamin C Face & Eye Serum once or twice a day to your skincare regime for a powerful hydrating and strengthening combination.
