Did you know that cleansing is such an important part of a skincare routine, and yet it’s often overlooked as one of the key steps in a healthy skincare regime. Cleansing correctly not only removes make-up, dirt/debris, and pollution, but it prepares the skin for your next step products.
To celebrate the relaunch of our beloved Bc Refresh Cleanser, here’s our ultimate guide to cleansing.
What Kind of Cleanser is Best for My Skin?
The type of cleanser choice can depend on your skin type and condition and should take into consideration your regime preferences and goals. With many cleansers to choose from, it can get confusing to decide, however, the most important point to note is that after you use a cleanser, ask yourself, does my skin feel soft, relaxed and never tight, taut, irritated or red? If it’s a no, then it may not be correct for your skin.
What Should I Look for In a Cleanser?
Look for pH balanced, cleansers that don’t contain artificial fragrance, colour, mineral oil, or SLS, SLES for example. Your cleanser should remove excess oil, make-up and debris effectively without stripping or drying the delicate skin barrier.
Do I Need to Use a Different Cleanser for AM and PM?
No, not necessarily, if you are using a cleanser that is effective, there is no need, but again, it’s a personal choice. The important thing to remember is maintaining your skin barrier, keeping it clean but intact.
Should I Always Do a Double Cleanse?
It’s a great idea to perform a double cleanse when you are wearing make-up and SPF, as the first cleanse removes surface debris and make-up with the second cleanse, cleansing and preparing the skin for further products. In your morning routine, a simple single cleanse or wiping over your skin with a dampened microfibre cloth may be enough.
What’s important when you cleanse?
Be kind to your skin and avoid heavy handedness as this may pre-sensitise your skin.
Always use tepid and not hot water which may cause redness and dehydration. Try to cleanse at the basin where you can see you your skin and the areas to cleanse.
Remember to cleanse up around the hairline and don’t forget your ears, neck and decolletage. Remove your cleanser with a gentle microfibre cloth instead of just rinsing/splashing off; rinsing may not enough to ‘lift’ excess debris from the skin.
Finally, always wash your hands before you commence your cleansing regime.
What’s the Go for Face Wipes or Micellar Water?
It’s a no go from us! Face wipes that come in a packet may contain ingredients that may not be beneficial to your skin and may irritate and strip the barrier. Because they are also made from a “fabric” type material they can be scratchy on the skin.
Micellar water may be a late-night quick go to product favourite for many but may not give a thorough cleanse with residue left behind. They are made from synthetic ingredients and may contain alcohol, artificial fragrances and colours which are not so skin friendly.
The skin is exposed to millions of toxins each day, so removing makeup and surface toxins with our alternative Biologi Microfibre Cloths is a great alternative choice.
These reusable cloths are super versatile and can be incorporated on their own as a first cleanse, used around the delicate eye area for make-up removal, as an effective cleanser removal tool, for sensitised barrier impaired skin or post aesthetic treatments when product use is limited and are perfect for travel. When dampened, the hundreds of tiny microfibres on the cloth attach to debris on the skin, ensuring a better cleanse, and a healthier skin.
Biologi’s Bc Refresh Cleanser
Through extensive research and trials, we discovered a plant (soapberry) that when extracted, works as effective skin cleanser without the use of synthetic activating agents and harmful surfactants.
Bc Refresh Cleanser is a water-soluble serum cleanser that produces a light soft fluffy foam due to the natural saponins in the extract which are activated by the bottle aerator pump. It has a unique silky feel on the skin when emulsified and, as a plant-based cleanser, offers a deeper clean to remove impurities from the epidermis whilst providing added skin benefits that go beyond cleansing. It assists with increased hydration, antioxidant protection, and helps to reduce redness/irritation for a healthy happy skin barrier.
It’s perfect for all skin types and skin conditions and is available now in its NEW packaging.
