The growing interest in natural skincare has surged to unprecedented levels. Driven by consumers who are increasingly conscious of the ingredients they use on their skin and what they ingest, they are seeking safer, more natural alternatives.
We thought it time to help decipher this segment of the beauty industry because navigating the marketplace can feel like a minefield, with overwhelming information, countless skincare products, and confusing marketing messages.
With more research, transparency and resources available to consumers, it can be extremely confusing for those who are exploring and opting for natural, greener, and more sustainable choices.

- Products with zero endocrine disruptors
- Pregnancy safe
- Vegan friendly
- Cruelty free and not tested on animals
- Mindful and ethically manufactured
- Environmentally friendly/eco safe
Is "Natural" Truly Natural?
Something labelled natural generally refers to the purity and the origin of the ingredients. Natural skincare are products containing ingredients that are taken from nature without much modification, and are naturally sourced, like botanical ingredients that have originated from plants like plant extracts and oils.
However, the term 'natural' can be misused, shrouded with confusion and in some cases can mean what was originally 'natural', has now in fact gone through a production process, which may result in a less-than-natural form.

Know the Difference Between Naturally Derived and Natural
Ingredients that are naturally derived can still be chemically treated. When buying, make sure you’re buying products with natural ingredients, not naturally derived ingredients.
What Are Considered Dirty Ingredients?
Dirty ingredients are ingredients whereby the starting material may have come from a natural source for example coconut, corn or palm syrup but have gone through so many chemical reactions that it is not considered ‘natural’ anymore. Dirty ingredients may also mean ingredients that are not good for us, like parfum (fragrance), coal tar, parabens, aluminium and minerals oils for example.

Are All Synthetics Bad?
No, not all synthetics are bad and if they are used in a product, they need to have a purpose for the skin (rather than act as fillers or stabilisers) i.e. preservatives, for example, which are added to cosmetics and personal care products for good reason: to keep your products mould and bacteria-free.
